Our Studio
We believe that the finishes used are an essential part of the look, feel and function of a truly great home.
Studio
Over the years we have collected many of our favorite finishes that are beautiful, well performing, and value based. We use these curated finishes to develop options that work with most styles and budgets. The benefit of having in-house, tangible finishes is that decisions can be made quickly. Materials can be seen side by side, removing guess work, unnecessary surprises, and hassle of driving all over town to locate samples. Not only does doing this add efficiency to the design process, we feel it is the best way to create a truly cohesive finished look and enjoy the process. The Finish Studio was purpose built to get things done. “The Worktable” is our favorite area because it is where we present the finish recommendations / options for your project. Finishes are placed on a custom built display wall so that we can see how things look together and keep with our identified style. Favorites are kept on the wall while new options can be quickly “swapped out” as we create the desired look and feel. The resources at our fingertips are what makes this so much fun and efficient - saving countless hours and potential project delays. You still get to design your home but we made it significantly easier using presenting options we feel best work for your project. We are here to guide the design process using our experienced design eye knowledge of value.
Design Elements
Physical Samples - There is no substitute for the real thing. True color, texture, scale and many other features are best understood if you have it in front of you. Countless hours have been spent to gather the best finishes to be considered for your project.
Interior Elevations- These are CAD drawings of the walls showing all relevant architectural elements : locations of doors, windows, cabinets, materials, fixtures, tile patterns, material thicknesses, edge details, install notes and more.
Color Consults - I have countless hours spent choosing my favorite Whites, Grays, Naturals, etc so that you don't have to. I have prepared oversized sample boards that can be used in-studio or taken on site. This experience will save you lots of time and confusion.
Sequencing - My years of construction and design experience has taught me not only what materials will be needed first for installation but also which materials are best to pick first from a design perspective. Having a set sequence adds structure so that it doesn't get overwhelming and a cohesive style can be kept.
Allowance - Similar to a budget, these are either amounts for each finish or a per square foot price that is used to estimate what is budgeted to spend. These are usually set relative to the home’s ultimate value to achieve the desired look and feel. I use these allowances to filter the finishes I recommend so that we can stay close to budget. (ex. bath faucet: $300 or wood flooring: $9 sf).
