Procurement
Clients are not obligated to purchase the recommendations made in the Design/Finishes phase through The Finish Studio. However, most choose to- the reasons are our competitive price and management of the often complex process to have the correct materials on site when needed. To do right, a system must be followed and strong vendor relationships are critical for success. This is where we truly shine.
The Finish Studio is staffed to receive and safely store shipments. Home owners who attempt to tackle this process often find themselves in a sea of paperwork, confusion and unreliable delivery schedules. In many cases there is nowhere to put finishes that is secure and this can become very costly. Project delays are expensive and stressful - fees associated with the above process are well worth the expense.
Review
Of “Finish Recommendations” sheet from previous Design Block, discussions with client in order to make the best decision.
Approvals
Assemble / identify finishes that are approved for ordering - move to its own “Approved Finishes” sheet Verify- check for availability, price changes, shipping charges
Invoicing
All approved finishes and the most current price and possible shipping costs are put on invoice for payment before ordering
Ordering
Place order(s) for delivery to The Finish Studio
Receiving - take delivery of order Quality Control- open boxes whenever appropriate to ensure that no damage was done in transit and that the proper item has shipped (size, color, options, etc.)
Inspection
As an option to make sure home owners are happy with ordered items - time can be scheduled to have you come to the “studio” to see the item in person- if not happy with selection the sooner a replacement can be made the better for your construction schedule
Returns
If items are damaged in shipping or if they shipped the wrong item, then I immediately contact vendor and arrange return of item and sending of correct item. If home owner is not happy with the ordered Finish Item then the return and design recommendations for its replacement will be billed hourly.
Label
Write on each item where it goes ( room, location within the room) so that installers know what goes where
Warehousing
keep items in a project designated area and monitor how much of the order has come in and will be ready for delivery or possible Will Call
Delivery
All Procurement Blocks include 1 site delivery to local projects, additional deliveries are possible but with an additional charge.
Will Call
Items can be made available for pick up at no cost. A good example for this would be rough plumbing items that need to be onsite before the finish plumbing parts.
Progress Updates
Periodic updates are sent to home owner/ GC to ensure construction schedules are not slowed.
Critical Path
The organization of the FS allows everyone to stay on schedule and see what’s coming down the pipeline so that the project is never waiting on a decision, additional information, or the on site delivery of the material.
Finish Spec Sheets
Any information needed for install or future maintenance is all part of the item record in the FS and can be easily referenced, shared or printed (hole spread and size for a faucet, power requirements for a range, etc.).
Fine Dining
Our hotel is inspired by the global mid-century modern design movement, and in turn, our on-site restaurant and café, Continental, is influenced by cuisines around the world. Famous for her fusion dishes, head chef Layla Wu creates seasonal menus that still have a little bit of English flair. That’s right, you can still get your fish and chips, but don’t be surprised to taste a little tarragon.
In Hotel Bar
The mixologists at our bar, Refill, create innovative and delicious cocktails with a chemist’s precision. Beers crafted by London’s best breweries are on tap and rotated monthly to keep our selections interesting. We also have a small stage where musicians and entertainers of all kinds perform for the sensory delight of our guests.
